Public deliberations on Flood risk management plan and its Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, developed in the framework of the project “Riga Against Flood” will last for three more days – until March 17. On February 17, this year, a seminar was held in Riga City Hall, discussing the Flood Risk Management plan for Riga City and its Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment that are being developed in the framework of the project “Riga Against Flood”.

Inhabitants Welcome to Express Their Opinion on Riga Flood Management Plan

As of today, February 7, public deliberations start on Flood risk management plan and its Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, developed in the framework of the project “Riga Against Flood”. Deliberations will last until March 17, 2012. Public deliberation meetings will be held on February 17 at 5pm in City Hall (Ratslaukums 1, Room 508), on February 20 at 6pm in Bolderaja library, on February 21 at 6pm in Jugla library and on February 22 at 6pm in Sarkandaugava library.

The Project’s Progress assessed by Project Steering Committee

On December 16, this year, LIFE+ project’s “Riga Against Flood” Steering Committee meeting was held, during which several essential issues were discussed.

A contract about the implementation of Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment has been signed

On 29 November, this year, Riga City Council City Development Department signed a contract with "Environmental Consulting Office",ltd. about the implementation of Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment for flood risk management plan of Riga City, which is being developed in the framework of the project "Riga Against Flood". The contract sum is 13 000 LVL (without 22% VAT). The work specified in the contract has to be completed until 31 May, 2012.

On 27th of June Project "Riga against flood" team met in a short seminar at Riga City Hall with the VASAB representatives and presented them project objectives, activities and the results of the study which are achieved so far. Guests were introduced with the achievements in development Flood risk management plan for Riga City and other results. Organization VASAB (Vision and Strategies around the Baltic Sea) is:

Intergovernmental multilateral co-operation of 11 countries of the Baltic Sea Region in spatial planning and development.
Guided by the Conference of Ministers responsible for spatial planning and development (7th Conference in Vilnius, 16 October 2009).
Steered by the Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (CSPD/BSR) composed of representatives of respective ministries and regional authorities (Germany, Russia).
